Transportation between the Walt Disney World Resort and MCO airport

With the ending of the Magical Express and complimentary transfers from MCO airport to the Walt Disney Resort, guests are left needing to find their own way. Let’s look at the options for traveling from MCO to WDW.

Mears Connect Driven by Sunshine- Mears Connect, which has recently merged with Sunshine Flyers is a paid shuttle bus service that runs between the airport and Walt Disney World Resort. Mears was the company that was running the Magical Express for Disney, and the service is very similar. You even go to the same area on the bottom floor of the airport to check in as you did for Magical Express.

You can make a reservation online here. The cost with tax is currently $31.50 round trip per adult and $25.20 round trip per child. You will need your flight information and dates when making the reservation. Payment in full is due at the time of reservation. Walk ups are welcome, but online reservations are strongly advised. Mears Connect by Sunshine Flyers runs 24/7 so they are able to get you to your WDW hotel no matter how late or early your flight is.

Ride share - Ride shares such as Uber or Lyft are our preferred method of traveling to and from MCO to the Walt Disney Resort and cost between $50 to $70 each way depending on surge pricing (at more popular times, the rides cost more). Rides are scheduled on either the Uber or Lyft app, and we interchange them depending on who costs less at the time or can have a car available sooner. Rides can be scheduled ahead of time for a fixed pre-approves rate.

Car Rentals - Cars can be rented from a wide variety of vendors at MCO airport. The costs typically run anywhere from $350 a week and up depending on the time of year. An authorized vacation planner can sometimes get you a better rate than advertised, so always check with one. When you are staying at a Disney resort parking is free. Unless you plan to spend a lot of time eating off property or visiting a wide variety of other Orlando attractions we do not recommend renting a car. Even on a combined Universal/WDW trip we find using a rideshare to be less expensive and more convenient for our family.

Luxury Car, Limo & Private Van Service - This is the most expensive choice, and as a family we have no experience with using a Luxury Car Service.

MEI-Mouse Fan Travel recommends using Black Diamond Luxury Transportation which can be booked at their website here or by calling 407-516-9595.

We’ve also linked a YELP list of the best reviewed airport car services here.

Minnie Van - Guests staying at a WDW resort hotel can also reserve a Minnie Van to transport them from MCO to their WDW hotel for the cost of $199 each way plus tip. Minnie Van airport shuttle reservation must be made by calling 407-WDW-PLAY. This is a fun, but pricey way to step into the Disney magic straight from the airport.
