Tips for meeting the characters:
Character meet and greets tend to be very popular. For characters that have set meeting times, we recommend getting in line to meet them at least 15 minutes before they are scheduled to appear. Since these characters are only out for a set period of time, the line gets cut off once a specified number of guests has been reached.
Many meet and greets have photopass photographers on hand to capture the moment. We are big proponents of getting memory maker (more on that here) but if you don’t have it you can also ask the photographer to take a photo with your camera.
We recommend becoming familiar with your My Disney Experience (MDE) App, where you will be able to find available characters and times, under Characters, for when you are in the park.
Almost all the characters who do actual meet and greets are happy to sign their autograph, which can be a fun souvenir and memento from your trip. You can buy autograph books around the park, make your own, or get creative and have characters sign an object. We’ve seen people carry around the matte from a photo frame, and then they can frame their Disney photo with the autographs, or a jacket that they ask characters to sign the back of. If you do a little thinking outside the box you can have a unique and fun souvenir to bring home.
Types of character experiences:
Main Characters
Ariel - If you head to the back of Fantasyland, next to Under the Sea~Journey of the Little Mermaid is where you can Meet Ariel in Her Grotto. Typically the queue for this opens up mid to late morning and remains available the rest of the day. There is no lightning lane available for meeting Ariel, but the line is generally fairly manageable at about 30 minutes.
Cinderella and Elena - Over to the right of Fantasyland, just past Sir Mickey’s is Princess Fairytale Hall where you can meet some of the most popular Disney Princesses. There are two separate queues here.
Princess Tiana and Rapunzel - Over to the right of Fantasyland, just past Sir Mickey’s is Princess Fairytale Hall where you can meet some of the most popular Disney Princesses. There are two separate queues here. From the second you can meet Princess Tiana and Rapunzel.
Minnie Mouse & Daisy Duck - Over in Storybook Circus behind the Big Top Souvenirs tent you’ll find Pete’s Silly sideshow where you can meet Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck one right after another from a single line. Minnie is in her as Minnie Magniique outfit, and Daisy is dressed Madame Daisy Fortuna. There is an automated photopass photo at this location. There is no lightning lane available for this queue, but the line is generally fairly manageable at about 30 minutes.
Donald Duck & Goofy - Over in Storybook Circus behind the Big Top Souvenirs tent you’ll find Pete’s Silly sideshow where you can meet Donald Duck and Goofy one right after another from a single line. Donald is playing it up as a snake charmer as the Astounding Donaldo and Goofy is, of course, the Great Goofini. There is an automated photopass photo at this location There is no lightning lane available for this queue, but the line is generally fairly manageable at about 30 minutes.
Mickey Mouse - At the beginning of Main Street, USA is the Town Square. To the left of the Town Square (facing the castle) is the Town Square Theater where you can meet the main mouse himself, Mickey Mouse. The line to see Mickey tends to be longer in the mornings, and right after the fireworks. So if you are aiming to get in a photo with Mickey here we recommend trekking back up Main Street, USA in the middle of the afternoon.
Belle - In Fantasyland, at Maurice’s Cottage, is the attraction Enchanted Tales with Belle. This is not technically a meet and greet, but you can take a picture with Belle following the show.
Intermittent Characters
Winnie the Pooh and Tigger - Situated next to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is The "Thotful Spot" where you can meet Winnie the Pooh and Tigger together. They make appearances in the afternoon, typically starting in the middle of the afternoon and going through early evening. The line to see them can get long so it’s worth checking the times guide or MDE app for when you can expect them and joining the queue shortly before they arrive.
Mirabel - Mirabel meets with guests in the reimagined Fairytale Gardens in Fantasyland near Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. Mirabel loves making new friends, chatting about her fantastical family, and learning about others. Mirabel only comes out at specific times, which can be found on the MDE app. Make sure to join the queue before she arrives, as a new meet a greet seeing her is very popular
Peter Pan - The official meeting spot for Peter Pan is in Fantasyland near Peter Pan’s Flight. However, Peter Pan is precocious and can be spotted wandering around the park sometimes. If you do run into him you will likely have a fun and memorable experience with him, but it may be hard to plan.
Jasmine and Aladdin - Over in Adventureland near Magic Carpets of Aladdin you’ll find the Agrabah Bazaar where you can often meet both Aladdin and Jasmine.
Captain Jack Sparrow - Across from Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland you’ll find Adventureland Stage where Captain Jack Sparrow will meet with guests.
Snow White - Snow White makes occasional appearances over at the Town Square Theater Porch on Main Street, USA.
Gaston - Next to Gaston’s Tavern there is a small area where Gaston periodically makes appearances to greet his adoring fans.
Pop-up Character Sightings
Anastasia and Drizella - The step sisters do not have an official queue where you can meet them, but they are often found next to the Cinderella Fountain behind Cinderella Castle in the afternoon heckling each other and passing guests. They are a bunch of fun so if you see them out go and say hi.
Chip and Dale - Chip and Dale come out to greet guests over in the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland. They do not have an official queue, but rather interact with guests from a short wall around the Big Top Souvenirs tent.
Country Bear Jamboree Bears - From time to time you can see Big Al, Liver Lips McGrowl, and Wendell from the Country Bear Jamboree in Frontierland. They typically hang out on the balcony above the Country Bear Jamboree attraction, but if the crowds are low they may venture onto the walkway to interact with guests. They have been sighted around Frontierland since the Country Bear Jamboree closed for an attraction make over.
Stitch or Buzz Lightyear - From time to time you can find Stitch or Buzz Lightyear over in tomorrowland at the Rocket Tower Plaza Stage between Carousel of Progress and Space Mountain.
Character Dining
Cinderella’s Royal Table - It’s all about the Princesses here! Jasmine, Ariel, Aurora, Snow White and of course Cinderella herself! Cinderella has a queue in the lobby to take a picture and visit with her, and the others make stops at each table in the dining room. Guests are given an autograph card with all the princesses' signatures. Princesses join you at breakfast, lunch, or dinner. This is a signature dining experience, so it is pricey, and booking advanced dining reservations 60 days out is a must!
Be Our Guest - While not a traditional character meal, the Beast roams through the restaurant periodically and waves to the guests. Guests can queue up and meet the Beast for a photo opp after their dining reservation, though he is sometimes not available. This is the most popular dining spot at the Magic Kingdom and advanced dining reservations are hard to come by. This is a signature dining prix fixe meal that is definitely on the pricier side.
Crystal Palace - Winnie the Pooh and friends and the center attraction in the buffet style restaurant. Pooh Bear, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet visit each table and also serenade you with a song and invite kids to join them in a parade around the restaurant. It can take a long time for them to make their way around the restaurant, so make sure you block off at least 90 minutes for this sit down meal. Advanced dining reservations are highly encouraged.
